I have been spending my summer sea kayaking and haven't been in a canoe for over 2 months. The best way to practice a skill is to jump right in, right? A group of us from
PTCC got together and ran the Skykomish River from below Boulder Drop (a grade IV rapid at average flow that looks much more difficult at low water) down to Big Eddy. The gauge read 890 cfs and dropping when we left the put in.
However, the Sky was great! Lots of new eddies to play with. Drops that previously pushed me through all the sudden became playgrounds for crossing eddies, ferrying, and trying to attain upstream eddies. A good day playing and working out the kinks.
