Coastal Leadership Training (BCU 4* Training)

This past weekend I went with Shawna Franklin and Leon Sommé of Body Boat Blade to run a Coastal Leadership Training course on the Northern Washington Coast.  Forecast conditions were large (14 ft swells at 12 seconds), which turned into 17 ft combined seas Saturday afternoon, with 35 kt winds.  With that forecast, we changed plans and stayed in and around Neah Bay, protected from both wind and swell.
Sunday conditions improved and we headed to the coast, and pointed our bows towards Anderson Point.  We explored, did lots of rough water rescue practice, towed, and of course played around the different coastal features at Anderson Head and surrounding area.  And finally on Monday we had a surf session with a much more manageable surf forecast, 3-4 ft. After practicing control in the surf zone, we headed to a rock just offshore and did rescue and towing practice in jobbly water. It was a great weekend with a great group of paddlers pushing themselves.
Overall trip report: A great fun and learning experience, with plenty of safety for all. No incidents.
